I sort of feel like Groundhog Day is one of those “holidays” the sometimes gets overlooked, but it covers so many different teaching and learning opportunities, it’s worth taking some time to incorporate it into your lessons.

- ReadWorks.org (free for teachers) has non-fiction articles that are perfect to share with students about the tradition of Groundhog Day. You can sign up for an account (again, totally free), and then search “groundhog” and you’ll get a list of related articles.
- Newsela.com (also free), is similar to ReadWorks, and can be searched for specific topics, like groundhogs.
