Often, teachers find themselves contacting parents when something is wrong. Grades, behavior, you name it. However, I think it’s important to let parents know when something is right. That’s where happy notes for students come in.
Happy notes for students are such an easy and effective way to encourage and motivate students, all while letting families know how awesome their kids are!

When Do I Have Time to Write Happy Notes?
I mean, really, the easy answer is that I don’t.
Honestly, though, they don’t take a very long time to write, and I try to write one or two per day.
I squeeze them in during transitions, or between small groups.
Why Write Happy Notes?
Well, why not write happy notes?
It’s important to me that my students receive positive feedback in more forms than just verbal.
In addition, my students really enjoy receiving them. They’re a little something extra, and they really appreciate them.
When Do I Give Them to Students?
Typically, I give happy notes to students at the end of the day while we’re packing up.
However, I have placed them on desks for students to find in the morning when they arrive.
Both methods are equally as loved by my second graders!
